About

For over two decades, Red Cell has been crafting synth-driven music that resonates deeply with audiences. With powerful synths, captivating melodies, and Jimmy Skeppstedt’s unforgettable voice, they’ve become one of the most dynamic acts on the Scandinavian scene.

As Earmilk notes: “The band’s meticulous attention to detail is apparent in every beat, synth line, and lyrical phrase.”

Their 2023 award-nominated album was praised for its unique sound and strong songwriting, and this year’s string of singles has been embraced by both fans and critics. On stage, Red Cell elevate their music to another level — an electrifying experience of energy, emotion, and presence.

The Red Cell Manifesto

Red Cell are a Swedish duo creating what we call Nordic Noir in sound. Our music lives in the space between shadow and light, melancholy and movement.

From the beginning in 2003, our path has never been straight. We started with industrial grit and guitars, moved through futurepop and dark electronics, and arrived where we are now: writing songs that carry the weight of pop classics but dressed in analog machines and modern production.

For us, the song always comes first. A track must stand on its own — melody, words, emotion — before it is clothed in synths and rhythm. The machines are not the point. They are only the tools that give shape to something deeper.

We are not a nostalgia act. We don’t imitate eras or chase trends. What we search for is timelessness: songs that resonate when stripped bare, and songs that still move people when played loud in the dark.

This is our pursuit and our promise: to keep writing songs that last, and to keep chasing the perfect electronic pop song.

We are not retro.
We are not nostalgia.
We are not machines playing songs.

We are songs played through machines.
We are shadows and light.
We are melancholy you can dance to.

The song comes first.
The hook must cut.
The words must wound.
The melody must last.

We write for the future.
We chase the eternal.
We search for the perfect electronic pop song.

This is Red Cell.
